Why not just hire an automation engineer on a general freelance marketplace?
Short answer
A general marketplace is a reasonable way to find someone for remote, low-stakes work, and it will be cheaper to search. What it cannot tell you is whether a PLC engineer can actually commission your line — capability there is self-reported and confirmed only after the fact by client reviews. Talengineer is narrower on purpose: every engineer passes a hands-on technical screen at signup, must hold an L1–L3 platform certification before being assigned, and on-site work is backed by GPS check-ins and photo QC. When a bad commissioning costs you days of line downtime, that verification is the product.

- Do general marketplaces not have escrow too?

- Is your engineer pool smaller?
- Much smaller, and deliberately so. Every listed engineer passed a hands-on AI technical screen, and only certified engineers can be assigned to a project. We would rather return five engineers who can do the job than five hundred profiles you have to sort through.
- Can I still hire someone for a small remote task?
